Why is it that i can change an alternator in a car, change my breaks but the windshield wipers.....?

always give me trouble, i guess its always the simplest things, lol.
Why is it that i can change an alternator in a car, change my breaks but the windshield wipers.....?
Wow! I totally felt the same way. ANd when I went to get someone to help they were asking me the same question until they couldn't help me either. I had to think for a second whether or not I was CRAZY. But later that day I looked for the blades and my hubby had changed them in a second and he knows NOTHING about cars and such.

You have to twitch your nose.
You can change the alternator AND the brakes. Man, you're good!

I can't even change the oil, but I CAN change the wiper blades (go figure, right?)
They just snap off or snap on for the most part. Try changing a starter on a motorhome with headers on it. THAT was fun.
Don't feel bad my sister had to change my windshield wipers for me. That's sad. Have a great day!
That's okay hon I'm on my to take care of that for you I'm a handy gal I can do it all.... lol

Can the settings on my windshield wipers be changed?

My 1999 Toyota Tacoma only has 2 windshield wiper speed settings: fast and faster - no delay setting. I can also bump the lever up for one swish. Living near Seattle I often deal with that constant, fine drizzle that doesn't call for a fast wiper speed, and I often find I have to bump the lever up for a swish every 15-30 seconds. Most cars come with a delay setting built-in, but not this one for some reason.

Can the settings on my wipers be changed so I have a delay setting?

I'm sure intermittent wipers were offered as an option on 1999 Toyota pickups. Have you thought about asking the dealer? Also, JC Whitney offers intermittent wiper switches for cars without it. I've seen these switches and have been tempted to install one on my 1972 El Camino SS, but can't seem to get around to it.

Ask the dealer.

How do I adjust windshield wiper timing?

I drive a Honda Civic and my windshield wipers do not return to the park position when turned off. Also, one of the wiper speeds (very slow or intermittent wipe) does not work. Does the wiper motor need to be changed or is there any way to adjust the timing?
How do I adjust windshield wiper timing?
If your car is like other cars, the stub shaft where the wiper arm is attached has lots of small splines. Remove the arm and reposition it where it needs to be. Sometimes the arms get moved (at the expense of the splines) when someone turns the wipers on the they're frozen down.
How do I adjust windshield wiper timing?
The wiper mechanism itself appears to be working fine.

There is a module that controls the wipers and where they land. If this goes bad, then what you are describing is common.

I don't know what year Civic you drive, but for a 98 Civic 2dr Ex, you can find the module here:

Under the passanger side wheel well. Open up the black part of the fender, peel it back, and the module is plugged into the fluid bottle.

Also, check out this website for Honda owners. It's a good place to ask questions and get ideas on other fixes for all Honda issues.

This is a thread about wiper blades.

Good Luck!
The motor works, the wiper control module doesn't.
There is no way to adjust them, change the modual.

A bottle of Windshield Wiper Fluid was left in my car's back seat and burst from the heat. How do I clean it u

I bought a bottle of windshield wiper fluid when I got my car to get the battery changed. However, I was stupid enough to forget about the fluid in my back seat and the whole bottle burst the next day because the car was out in the sun the entire day. all the fluid got on my floor mats and the rug on the back seat. Everything dried and the entire car smells like alcohol every time I get in. Also, the back rug/mat turned blue. I'm wondering if anyone knows how to get the blue off from the mat and the floor? This is very embarrassing and I feel very stupid for forgetting the bottle in the back seat.

Thanks!

I have heard that the Bissell Little Green Clean Machine is a wonder-worker for cars. I don't own one, but a couple of my friends absolutely love it.

It will re-wet the washer fluid and suck it right out.

if you are mechanically inclined you can try to remove the back seat and soak it with the hose, This will not damage the upholstery, but it will get rid of that horrid smell. The mat you could do the same with. It may have been permanently turned blue though.

Hope it helps
Well I have not much information to go on so I will just assume that your seats are either leather or vinyl, those you can just wash off with plain old warm water and a soft cloth, the mats however must be scrubbed with either dishwashing liquid and about half cup of White Vinegar then scrub with a brush if these mats have carpeting on them then it should be with a stiff brush but don't brush too hard you will tear up the pile just a gentle scrubbing action will do then rinse with hot water and allow to dry away from sunlight or heat these mats must be hung to dry Good Luck !
use detergent or soapy water to wash the floor mats and rug maybe will help get the smell out but the rug and floor mats probably are permanently blue you should change floor mats and rug

tips:

next time you go out bring a little notebook and record what you brought that day make sure to look at the list that you brought everything out of the car (and put a star next to things that cannot be forgotten like the Windshield Wiper Fluid)

  • If a car travels down a road and a bug hits the windshield, which bears the greater change of momentum?

    a) insufficent information

    b) the bug

    c) both the same

    d) the car

    Please help! :)
If a car travels down a road and a bug hits the windshield, which bears the greater change of momentum?
    ah, the bug.

    (b)
If a car travels down a road and a bug hits the windshield, which bears the greater change of momentum?
Well, the bug goes splat and then is headed the other way (albeit as a windshield smear)...the car isn't even appreciably slowed down. B!

You know C and D are wrong unless bug/car collisions start totalling cars (boy wouldn't that raise insurance rates?). A is just a copout.
    B) the bug

    A) This would be the correct answer, but most of the time when a bug hits a windshield the car is going over 30 mph so we can assume in this case that this is true.

    B) The momentum of the bug is its weight (minor) X its speed (slow) for a total momentum of insignificant lets call it 1 lb/ft/sec for a huge bug that has been hipped up on sugar and shot out of a cannon.

    C) The end up both the same only AFTER the collision.

    D) The car's momentum is its weight (tons) x 30 mph (fast) which equals huge lets call it 1,000 lbs/ft/sec for a speeding lawn mower.

When you compare (1,000 lb/ft/sec) huge vs. (1 lb/ft/sec) insignificant the poor bug has no choice but to go splat after suffering a HUGE change in it鈥檚 momentum enough to defeat the structural integrity of the insect shell itself.
I think that it's C. This uses Newton's 3rd Law. For every action, there is an opposite and equal reaction. The bug applies the same amount of force on the windshield as the windshield applies on the bug. However because the bug has a significantly smaller mass than the car, it can not withstand the large acceleration from the collision. Maybe I'm answering the wrong question though? The forces are the same but the momentum might be different? I don't know, but I think it's C.

An unfortunate bug hits the windshield of a moving car. Describe the forces, impulses, momentum changes?

An unfortunate bug hits the windshield of a moving car. Describe the forces, impulses, momentum changes, and accelerations of both the bug and the car.

Hate to tell you, but you shouldn't use Yahoo!Answers to do your homework. You may either get a wrong answer, or fail to learn the material you need to know.

BUT- to lighten the mood, I have a related joke.

What's the last thing to run through that unfortunate bug's mind as it hits the windshield? (answer under source)
An unfortunate bug hits the windshield of a moving car. Describe the forces, impulses, momentum changes?
    splat!
First; the bug screams, and his impulse is to thrust his feet in front of him and flap away hard. The momentum of his wings is only sufficient enough to stop acceleration forward. As the windscreen rushes toward him, he braces his feet for the impact. But they crumple at his knees. Then he goes 'splat'. And his innards spread all over the wind screen.

    The end.
Sounds like a homework question that you should be doing yourself instead of cheating off the internet. The school provides you with knowledge, use it!

If you have comprehensive in your insurance they may be a deductible. Like I have. I don't know how much is the deductible but I would say around $50 -$100. An no your premiums will not go up. The insurance companies prorate the coverage. I hope help you out.

your insurance will do it for free.I had mine done. they would rather pay $100.00 than $500.00..Your rates will not go up..they will send someone where the car is parked and do it there, even if you are not home or at work..Do It asap before i the crack gets bigger than they cant do it..good luck!
