Just bought a used Honda Accord, it has scratches in the windshield from the windshield wipers. I s there a way to remove or get rid of them without changing the windshield?|||usually those scratches are too deep to come out.|||the places that do the windshield crack repair %26quot;may%26quot; be able to fill them with the same epoxy they use on the small cracks but dont get your hopes up.
about the cheapest is if you have a u-pull yard locally that has a guy with a windshield stall...they usually charge $100 for a good used windshield and they put it in for you.

Why did windshield wipers change?
When I was a little kid I remember windshield wipers pointed towards the center of the windshield and went up and down opposite each other in a staggered fashion. Then at some point they started pointing in the same direction and moving up and down at the same pattern and rate. I%26#039;ve always wondered why this changed.
Does anyone know what I%26#039;m talking about? If so, don%26#039;t you think the old way got the windshield cleaner?

Probably less linkage complications and no cable crossovers with the wipers this way. Most wiper motors are now on the driver%26#039;s side firewall. $200 deductible for windshield replacement?
I have the comprehensive option on my insurance and am using it to replace my car%26#039;s windshield. There%26#039;s apparently a $200 deductible when going through insurance company... I always thought that it means that I pay $200 and the rest will be paid by the insurer. Now the company changing the windshield (Morrey Auto Group) is telling me that I only get $200 off (e.g. if the actual bill is $800 I have to pay $600). Should I accept this or are they charging too much?

I changed the windshield wiper motor in a 1998 Chevy Tahoe. The new one only works on high.?
and the wiper fluid won%26#039;t stop flowing. I don%26#039;t new if i should get one with pulse or delay. Thank you|||On the front of the wiper transmission theres a module, which contains a circuit board with 2 relays, and a cam that rides the wiper motor and opens a switch every cycle. Remove the module and make sure the cam is properly placed (it should NOT be jammed on the pin, it needs to clear the pin), and make sure the ground tab (metal tab a screw goes through) doesn%26#039;t have any gasket material on it.|||On my Tahoe, we had to replace the fuse. But that was just to fix the wipers working on high. I don%26#039;t know about the fluid. Good luck :o)

This boat has dual consols and 2 sport windshlds. I would like to change the windshield to a full 3pc walkthrough without having to change the consols. Guys is there any possible way to get your car windshield fixed instead of replacing the whole windshield?
I think that this is specialized glass because it does not crack too easly and when the rock hit the car windshield, the car windhield did not shadder, it just had a hole engraved in it.

wiper blades , is that what you mean?|||Both nozzels snap into the hood use your fingers to twist off the rubber hose and needle nose pliers to pinch the nozzel from below and push up out of the hood. You will have to use a straght pin to realign the spray pattern on the windshield. Just adjust the ball shaped nozzel with the pin inserted caution first squirt might be in your face. AS a precaution empty out all the old windshield washer fluid and replace it with new mixture.

2004 saturn Ion windshield wiper arm stabilizer bar?
Husband changed windshield blades on 2004 saturn Ion. The stabilizer arm broke where the aluminium crimps around the plastic on the pivoter (where the arm pivots) Arm now flops all over the place when turned on. The way that this car is designed you disconnect all of the wiring and plumbing. Disconnect the steering. Unbolt the front sub-frame. Then lift the body off of the sub-frame. You end up with the engine, transmission, sub-frame, and front suspension as a unit.
If you are installing an intake manifold and carburetor you may need to alter the firewall, but not the windshield if the engine is in the original location.
Why would you want to replace your modern fuel injection with an old fashioned carburetor? A properly working fuel injection system will usually out perform a carburetor. A carburetor is more like a controlled fuel leak. Another way to look at it is like installing a toilet on top of your engine. All things equal, you usually loose about 15% power and fuel efficiency changing your fuel injection to a carburetor.
If you plan on running the 350 at a higher RPM all you need to do is install a larger throttle body and larger injectors. Then re-program the computer to accept the changes.
A 65MM Holley Throttle body is rated at 750 CFM which will take your 350 up to 7400 RPM. Very few SBC street engines see more than 7000 RPM.

How do you change your windshield wipers? Do you need to look for a specific type?
Most wiper arms from the pivot point upward today have a U shaped 180 degree hook on the end. It%26#039;s always easier if you sit behind the wheel with your wipers operating in the slow position. Time the wiper blades at or near the longest end upward of their stroke. Quickly turn off the ignition system. Your goal is to park the blades as close to the fully swept position as you can. It%26#039;s the easiest position to remove the blade and blade frame. Lift the blade fully off the windshield. If you look closely, there is a button beneath the steel flat blade arm at the very end This button is at the very center of the blade but underneath the steel arm. The darn slider button is small but it must be slid toward the bottom of the windshield less than 1/8 of an inch. At the same time with the button is pushed down pull the wiper blade toward the piviot point of the wiper arm. The entire blade and frame slides downward and off.
Do the reverse when installing the new blades. Make sure the bayonet in the center of the new blade is pointing toward you then slide it on the steel wiper arm with the center plastic bayonet facing the base of the windshield. The blade and frame slides straight on the U shaped hook, no button to press untill it%26#039;s time to change them again.

You can buy a universal washer pump at Canadian Tire etc and many times the motor is located on the washer fluid container at the bottom.

They guy above is right however I would phone ford and get them to check recalls windstars in that year had a recall for the wiper motor cover and it shorts out I would check first free repair.|||unbolt the wiper arms, take out all the screws and remove the cover over the firewall, unbolt, unplug and remove the wiper motor. installation is in reverse.

How do you get a windshield wiper to lock on the arm?
I need to change my windshield wipers and I just purchased some replacements. The type I have on my car is a J hook (or some call a U hook) so it should be the easiest kind. I was able to get the old wipers off, and put the new ones on and they fit fine, but they won%26#039;t snap and lock into place, so I am sure they will come flying off. Is there some trick to getting them to lock. CHANGING a windshield washer pump with a universal type?
I want to buy a universal windshield washer pump because my pump is slipping at the impeller, ,my question is its a big job to take the fender well off to take the whole plastic white container off with the old pump in it to replace the old pump, but its very easy to just leave it there and place the tubing with another small piece of tubing in series with a new universal pump . question will the new pump pull the water through the old pumps impeller and squirt on the windshield?|||Yes it will. Just tie you new unit into the supply line, especially if your old pump was drawing straight from the tank. You would want to locate the new pump as close to the reservoir as possible in order to use the same current supply. Unplug from old and plug into new. They are about $25 a piece. So thats $50 for a set. Probaby more than you would ever think about spending on wiper blades but try them once and you will see why they are so expensive.

All you need is ratchet set and a one of those star bits (forgot size). It should come right out.

How to change windshield on motorcycle.
The bike is a 2007 Honda Cbr600rr and I got a tinted windshield and really want to just put it on myself. I was wondering if there was a step by step thing or a manual on how to take it off without breaking anything and put the new one on with no problems.|||I%26#039;ve done it but not on a honda. I did it on a zx-6. It was a huge paine. i had to remove the dash panel that surrounds the speedo. The screws go through the fairing, through the windshield, and into the dash panel. Getting all three of those lined up long enough to run a screw through the holes was tough. Took 2 days.
I would have rather paid somebody to do it.|||Dude what instructions you need? Just unscrew the screws, pull the windshield out and put the new one in place. Screw the screws back in and your done. The pain is getting the shield in place to screw the screws back in.

I haven%26#039;t changed the windshield wipers for 3 years and they are leaving lots of streaks. However when I go to Autozone and Target, they only sell the whole windshield wiper. The windshield will stay much cleaner with new blades. I always buy the arm with blade, ($15 vs. $5) but you can get refills, also.|||ditch the refill idea and buy some rain-x blades. Refills are a pain in the butt with all the different sizes and styles. You should be changing your blades every 6 months any way.|||I%26#039;d change the Whole blade. It%26#039;s easier and the old blade Assembly may not be letting the blade lay on your window flush from one end all the way to the other.
I personally suggest Triple edge wipers. They%26#039;ve never failed me and are guaranteed for the moment you put them on your car for life.They are a little more expensive but I thing they are worth it. Make sure you get the right sizes.The driver and passenger sides don%26#039;t usually take the same size
The windshield will stay much cleaner with new blades. I always buy the arm with blade, ($15 vs. $5) but you can get refills, also.|||ditch the refill idea and buy some rain-x blades. Refills are a pain in the butt with all the different sizes and styles. You should be changing your blades every 6 months any way.|||I%26#039;d change the Whole blade. It%26#039;s easier and the old blade Assembly may not be letting the blade lay on your window flush from one end all the way to the other.
I personally suggest Triple edge wipers. They%26#039;ve never failed me and are guaranteed for the moment you put them on your car for life.They are a little more expensive but I thing they are worth it. Make sure you get the right sizes.The driver and passenger sides don%26#039;t usually take the same size
How do you change the windshield wipers in a 1985 Lincoln Town Car?
I have a 1985 Lincoln Town Car and I can%26#039;t figure out how to change the windshield wipers. I tried opening the hood and changing them that way but that didn%26#039;t work. They don%26#039;t pull straight up and turning them on then off when they are up doesn%26#039;t work either. They just go back down. Can someone help me?|||dr layne is right. Turn off the key, when wipers are midway up the windshield, so you can pull the arm straight out away from the windsheild, grab the wiper and flip it over. This will allow you to remove the entire head, not the arm. Then follow the directions that came with the new wipers. If you turn off the switch while the key is on, they will park under the hood.

Might be even easier if you can put the top down while changing it to ge better access to cutting it out.. The glass will be different than the coupe version most of the time. Make sure you get a new rubber seal around the new windshield, cuz the old one will get strecthed out when removing the first windshield. Good Luck.|||Actually, it depend on make and model. Sometimes it takes more time to replace a windshield on a convertible. On Most convertibles you have to remove the A-piller portion (where the front end top sits on, but like i said it depends on make and model. Some autoparts stores offer replacement as a free service if you buy the new blades there. And even if it%26#039;s not official, some staff will just do it for you anyway.|||no, not really. its probably the same as my 88olds. all i do is pull up on a little prong and the wiper comes off. unless your talking about replacing the refills, then just push the 2 little clips togeather and pull the refill out.|||yup my 01 is same so its easy|||Not At All...!!
Need some help changing my windshield wipers?
i got a 2006 nissan maxiam a few months back and the guy i bought it from lost the owners manual so i don%26#039;t know how to change the windshield wipers. i%26#039;ve looked online for info and they say pull the release tab, but when i push the tab, i can%26#039;t get the blade out
thanks for you time|||Depends on whether you are trying to replace the entire wiper assembly or just the rubber blade itself.
Many wiper arms have a hook at the end and you push the wiper toward the base of the wiper arm instead of pulling away from it.
To get just the rubber blade out I normally use pliers to bend one of the metal tabs on either side of the blade, at the end of the blade closest to the base of the arm, and slide the support band out. The blade will almost fall out without either one of the support bands. Then you slide the replacement back in.
The easiest was is to go to Autozone, Advance Auto, etc and they%26#039;ll change them for you for free.|||make it easy on yourself, get a tin snips or a wire cutters and cut off the old ones (do not cut the pole it sits on)
The wipers pull straight off of the post (that is 90 degrees from the wiper arm)
I once bent the arm trying to remove the wiper... look at the new wiper and see the center hole... that is the separation point.
cut it off and save yourself time
the new one snaps right back on that pole (it is about an inch or so long)

Changed windshield washer pump for 2003 Honda Accord and now the fluid shoots hard?
I bought the right pump from AutoZone and installed it the right way but now it shoots the fluid so hard that it barely reaches the windshield and sprays the whole car. Is it because it%26#039;s a brand new pump? |||Yes, that%26#039;s correct, You may have two readjust the tubes where the fluid comes out, to hit the windshield correctly.

Changing windshield wipers?

1. Where can I buy replacement windshield wipers for a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am SE?
2. How do I know which kind of wipers to buy?
3. How do I change the wipers?
Mine are in serious need of replacement...the snow is turning to rain, and my wipers are not handling the transition well. I%26#039;m going through washer fluid like crazy because the wipers only work when the windshield is really wet. if your just changing the blade, pinch ends together to unlock, slide the old blade out, push new blade in the track till it clips in....not that hard.... if you have snow and freezing conditions i would go with winter blades.|||go to Auto Zone and have the parts guy look up the proper ones for you and they will install them free.|||You can go to your local autozone or advance auto and buy wipers and they will put them on for you|||auto parts store.

they come with instructions|||some auto parts will change your wipers for free
autozone or pepboys has those offers, so ask the guy on the counter what are the wipers you need and then at the shop they will change the wipers with to no cost
