CHANGING a windshield washer pump with a universal type?

I want to buy a universal windshield washer pump because my pump is slipping at the impeller, ,my question is its a big job to take the fender well off to take the whole plastic white container off with the old pump in it to replace the old pump, but its very easy to just leave it there and place the tubing with another small piece of tubing in series with a new universal pump . question will the new pump pull the water through the old pumps impeller and squirt on the windshield?|||Yes it will. Just tie you new unit into the supply line, especially if your old pump was drawing straight from the tank. You would want to locate the new pump as close to the reservoir as possible in order to use the same current supply. Unplug from old and plug into new. I am looking for a 24V universal pump.|||most ive seen is in the tank or tug dont see a reason to remove anything but what you need to get to the part ... best you wash the jug out reall good most time is why it stop working|||maybe it would be a great idea to leave make,model and year and there are two types of pumps none require removal of fender
