I want to buy a 1996 lexus es300...are there any drawbacks with buying a lexus? This one imparticular?
You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here - autoinsurance.maclenet.com

if it needs a timing belt, then that is why they would rather sell it ... When the timing belt is done, they usually do many other things while they are in the engine that deep ... like a water pump, and all that kind of stuff .... this is al going to add up quickly and be pretty expensive. It will also depend upon who you have do the work .... if Lexus does it, you better have some major $$$ on hand. It will be done perfectly .... but it is gonna cast you ....
there is just no way around it .... if you continue to do the maintenance things that are going to come up, you will have a very nice Lex. ... frankly it might be cheaper to just find a Lex that already is perfect .... the real cost may not be as much, all things considered .....
great car ...
