My 1996 Dodge Dakota is is not heating up enough to defrost the windshield.?

So far we have changed the thermostat and checked to make sure the engine temp is ok and it is warm. When I check the tempature of the air blowing out the vents it is barely luke warm. Makes for a long cold ride. Any suggestions?

Make sure that the cold/warm lever is working. Could be that, even you put the lever in warm position, it doesn't work because the cord between the lever and the engine is broken.

Heater controler, heater box.
Possible causes:

Control cable on cold warm lever has slipped or become disconnected.

'Crud' buildup in heater core and/or heater hoses.

Bad HEATER thermostat, (where control cable connects).
